KARALEE DAWN MACKAY has served as the General Manager of the Signature Theatre Company (NYC), Managing Director of The Jose Quintero Theatre and Cherry Lane Theatre (NYC), and in various capacities at American Stage Festival, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Tony® Award Productions, League of American Theatres & Producers, the William Morris Agency, and Odd Act Theatre Group, among others. International work includes serving as the Light Designer and Production Manager for the play, Winter Under the Table by Roland Topor as part of the Festival De Teatro de la Habana International Theatre Festival in Havana, Cuba in 2009 and as Publicist for the Odd Act Theatre Group’s production of How the Money Goes by Robert Cousins at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland in August of 2011.
In addition to her professional work, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Theatre History and Performance Studies at the University of Maryland. Her research focuses on the anthropology of performance with an emphasis on the creation, maintenance and performance of Scottish cultural identity at Highland Games and Gatherings at home and abroad. Ms. Dawn has been awarded a Graduate Student Summer Research Fellowship, which allowed her to spend five weeks in Scotland pursuing research on The Gathering a featured event of the inaugural Homecoming Scotland, a Goldhaber Travel Grant and two International Initiatives Awards. She has presented papers at the American Anthropological Association International Conference, Performance Studies International Conference and the Mid Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association, among others. She is a member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), American Anthropological Association (AAA), Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), Mid America Theatre Conference (MATC) and is a board licensed member of the New York City chapter of the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers (ATPAM).
