In program management positions at The National Association for Music Education, where she worked for seven years, she produced several national programs, including the annual World’s Largest Concert®. Hosted by the Oak Ridge Boys and reaching an estimated 6 million students, teachers, and music supporters, the 2006 sing-along concert received a TELLY award, which honors outstanding local, regional, and national cable TV programs. In addition to serving as executive producer and writer for the annual concerts, she managed performances and educational programs in varied venues, including settings at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Music Education Week in Washington conferences, and Washington, D.C., area public schools.
Ms. Springer produced the Liberty for All: A Musical Journey interactive CD, featuring music by the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” and narration by President George H.W. Bush. She has worked with VH1, PBS, and NPR on several curriculum projects and created My Music Class®. This online lesson plan database with audio and video capabilities for music educators won the 2008 Web Marketing Association’s Education Standard of Excellence award. Ms. Springer has written successful grant proposals to the Arts Council of Fairfax and the National Endowment for the Arts, and managed a fundraiser for charity that raised $100,000 in just one month.
Professor Springer authored a book review that was published in The Journal of Arts Management, Law, and Society. She has served as a grant panelist for the Arts Council of Fairfax County and the Montgomery County Arts and Humanities Council.
