Mary Margaret Schoenfeld
Mary Margaret Schoenfeld is an independent arts management consultant with a particular focus on funding and arts service organizations. Her 25-year career as a practitioner in cultural development included providing training and technical assistance to artists and arts administrators, providing strategic planning services, conducting research and providing analysis about arts in the community, developing and supporting peer learning networks, and managing funding programs and other resources to ensure that arts and cultural opportunities were available to the widest possible audience. Her consulting work includes coalition and project management, strategic planning, facilitation, research, training and teaching.
Schoenfeld currently serves as National Coordinator for the six US Regional Arts Organizations and represents them as an advisory member on the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies board of directors. Additional recent clients include the Oklahoma Arts Council, the Delaware Arts Council, the National Coalition for Arts’ Preparedness and Emergency Response, the Mid-America Arts Alliance, and the Torrington (CT) Development Corporation. She is a consulting associate at Maren Brown Associates, collaborating on strategic planning and arts management training programs. She is a guest lecturer for the Goucher College Arts Management Graduate program, and has served on thesis committees. She has worked as a grant panelist and workshop leader for state arts councils in Arkansas, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. She held positions at Americans for the Arts, the Arlington (VA) Cultural Affairs Division, the League of Historic American Theatres, and the Vermont Arts Council. A Vermont native, she lives in Arlington, Virginia, where she serves on the board of directors of the Educational Theatre Company.
