Rate of Pay: Salary: $50,000.

Location: Frederick, MD
Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is seeking an organized, vibrant leader and communicator who can serve as a bridge between the MET and our community, region, and national theatre community. The Managing Director (MD) is responsible for pursuing MET’s mission, artistic goals and financial objectives. Primary responsibilities include building/maintaining community relations, resource development, coordination of marketing and public relations, finance, facility management, strategic planning, board relations, and administration. The MD directs the marketing, promotion and public relations activities of the MET and leads the organizational in developing business/government relations, sponsorships, donations and fundraising. The MD manages three direct reports, two partial reports, three associates, engages our board of trustees, and works with volunteers to ensure that the theatre works successfully on a commercial and a practical level.
Ideal candidate should possess:
-Three years’ experience in a non-profit arts management/leadership position
-Experience with non-profit development (grant making, fundraising, sponsorships, donor engagement, etc.)
– Strong budget and financial management skills
-Capacity to lead, manage, motivate and inspire board, ensemble, and community.
– Experience in marketing, advertising and public relations
-Excellent interpersonal leadership, and communications (written, oral and presentational) skills
-A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business management, arts management or related field from an accredited college.
Founded in 1996, Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is dedicated to the creation and production of extraordinary theatre art through the combined voices of a diverse ensemble of professional resident artists who are influential leaders in the community and visionaries in the art of theatre.
With an operating budget of $650,000, MET produces six main stage productions, two community outreach productions, five family theatre productions, two terms of theatre classes, a summer theatre camp, six to ten afterschool production programs for regional elementary schools, a nationally known sketch comedy troupe, and manages a 16,000 sq ft facility that includes two theatre spaces (92-107 seat space, and a 62-seat flexible space).
