The Seidel Fellowship

The Seidel Fellowship is a six-month paid fellowship designed to nurture and support the next generation of leaders in the American Theater.   Each Fellowship is designed specifically for the recipient and includes supported hands-on projects that are led by the Fellow and mentored by 1st Stage senior staff.  Fellows also receive monthly seminars with leaders in the field and networking events throughout the residency.

 Fellows dedicate 20- 30 hours per week for a 6-month period beginning in Spring 2021 (flexible start date). Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $1,500.

Fellow’s experiences are not limited to their chosen concentration. 1st Stage leadership will work with Fellows to provide projects and experiences in a variety of capacities based on their desired experience.

Fellowship may include but are not limited to:
 Accessibility, Artistic Direction, Casting, Design, Education, Fundraising, Graphic Design, Literary Management, Marketing, Producing, Production Management, Operations/Front of House Management, and Technical Direction

1st Stage has garnered local and national recognition including multiple Helen Hayes Awards and was named “one of America’s most impressive smaller regional companies” (The Wall Street Journal). 1st Stage received the 2015 American Theatre Wing’s National Theatre Company award for having “articulated a distinctive mission, cultivated an audience, and nurtured a community of artists in ways that strengthen the quality, diversity and dynamism of American theatre.”
