Mason's Cheuse Center seeks Graduate Assistant!

Body

The Cheuse Center:

The Cheuse Center is a cultural diplomatic center that utilizes creative writing and literature as a means of international dialogue, exchange and understanding. The Cheuse Center is about to head into its fifth year of existence, and we are looking to significantly build on the work we have already done. A student who works with us could have three different buckets of tasks, focusing on what she/he was most interested in.

Cheuse Center Job Description:

The Cheuse Center is looking for a motivated and committed graduate student to work with Director Matthew Davis and other Cheuse Center staff and Board members. This position is roughly about 20/week, and the student would receive $8750 for those 20 hours from now through May 24. Those hours are very flexible in terms of when those hours are completed and what kind of work the student wants to do.

The three buckets are:

 1) Help Director Davis and a possible Social Media editor (we are in the process of contracting out with someone) with Cheuse Center promotion, communication and branding. The Cheuse Center is posed to undergo a thorough re-evaluation of our public face, and the student would have an opportunity to help with this. This includes working with and through our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), website, newsletters and podcasts.

2) Help conduct programmatic research into international writers and possible partner organizations. The Cheuse Center works in a diverse programmatic space that encompasses the worlds of creative writing/literature, international relations, and human rights. We are always on the lookout for more organizations to partner with in the D.C. area, the country and globally. This bucket would also include ongoing programmatic support in terms of online events.

3) Be involved in the development activities of the Cheuse Center--From conducting individual donor research; exploring opportunities on GMU's campus; and researching and applying to state, federal, and foundation grant opportunities.

To Apply, please email a cover letter, resume, and the contact information of one reference to Matthew Davis at mdavis49@gmu.edu
