Sewanee Summer Music Festival Operations Manager

Location: The University of the South, Sewanee Tennessee

Dates – Successful candidate will work remotely in coordination with the Artistic Director starting shortly after March 1st and be on site June 20th until the conclusion of the festival, July 23rd, 2018.

The Operations Manager will work under the supervision of Artistic Director and festival assistant director and collaborate with other members of the SSMF staff to assist with the daily functions of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Duties vary and include assisting with logistical support for two orchestras and numerous chamber ensembles, as well as assisting with special event production coordination, student “run out” concerts and other aspects of a dynamic summer music festival

Specific duties:

· Plan and manage the master schedule

· Oversee student orchestras and faculty chamber music rehearsals

· Oversee outreach performances and student chamber music concerts

· Coordinate guest artist schedules

· Assist with day to day office management

Qualifications: Background in classical music, and/or experience in arts or school administration required. Excellent customer service, organizational and administrative skills, and multi-tasking capabilities required. Attention to detail is a must as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under high pressure. Basic computer skills required. Production coordination experience is a strong plus. Candidate must be flexible, willing, motivated, and quick to learn as job requirements will vary from day to day. Candidates must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license for the summer of 2018. A DMV background check will be conducted for candidate(s) hired. A humble, strong, and resilient sense of humor preferred. Compensation: Commensurate with experience and includes room and board during at the festival.

The ideal candidate will begin employment and work remotely starting shortly after the deadline, and then join us for the 2018 festival.
