National Council for the Traditional Arts Seeks Multiple Positions
As NCTA prepares for its 2022 season, four positions are open with their festival teams, all listed below.
Logistics Coordinator - due January 31 - Deadline extended!
Provides office and on-site logistical support for three, large-scale festivals featuring multicultural music and dance performances on 6–7 stages, crafts demonstrations, family activities, and foodways, as well as several smaller events. Responsibilities include: managing hotel arrangements (room assignments, catering, parking), booking artist and staff travel, overseeing creation of participant itineraries and information packets, working with festival transportation team, managing festival check-in desk, updating festival databases, tracking expenses and staying within budget, and keeping meticulous records and change logs.
Folklife & Outreach Coordinator - due February 14
The National Folk Festival will be held August 26-28, 2022, in downtown Salisbury, MD. This position would support the host city in producing this nationally acclaimed, free, large-scale festival featuring multicultural music and dance performances on 4 or more stages, as well as crafts demonstrations, family activities, and foodways. 2022 is the final year of the National Folk Festival in Salisbury, and will be a transition year for working on the Maryland Folk Festival in 2023 and beyond. The successful candidate will be a key member of the planning and implementation of the MD Folklife Area at the National Folk Festival, working closely with the City of Salisbury’s National Folk Festival Local Manager and its producing partner — National Council for the Traditional Arts.
Local Technical Coordinator - due February 14
This position would support the City of Salisbury in producing this nationally acclaimed free, large-scale festival featuring multicultural music and dance performances on 5 or more stages, as well as crafts demonstrations, family activities, and foodways. 2022 is the final year of the National Folk Festival in Salisbury, and will be a transition year for technical management working on the Maryland Folk Festival in 2023 and beyond.
Production Assistant - due February 28
The Production Assistant will provide office and on-site support for three, large-scale festivals featuring multicultural music and dance performances on 5–7 stages, as well as crafts demonstrations, family activities, and foodways. This is the perfect contract position for someone with an interest in arts, culture, and event production who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, collegial small-office environment. The Production Assistant is a key member of the production team who will work closely with the Production Manager on all festival audio, backline, and lighting needs, from planning through implementation.
